The journey begins before you have even collected your bag. Coming in to land at Dalaman you get your first hit of the colour this coast is famous for — that particular shade of blue-green that photographs can never quite nail. A private transfer winds you through pine-forested hillsides and the first patches of ancient Mediterranean scrubland before delivering you to Fethiye, a working harbour town that has been a gateway to this coast for several thousand years.
