Stage 1 — Arrival & Briefing
Meet at the Accommodation or agreed meeting point, drive to Sarsala bay. Guide gives a safety briefing, distributes water, and checks footwear (trail shoes with grip, not sandals).
Stage 2 — Sarsala Bay to Viewpoint (~2 km)
Trail leaves the north end of the beach, climbing gently through pine forest with intermittent shade. Rocky, root-covered path with a few short scrambly steps — this is the best-shaded section of the day, so the guide uses it to help the group settle into pace. Waymarks are the red-and-white Lycian Way stripes.
Regroup Point 1
A hillside clearing looking out over Göcek’s islands — full stop, water break, photos, guide waits for the back of the group before moving on.
Stage 3 — Rest Stop
Shaded break at the viewpoint. Snacks, sunscreen reapplication, guide headcount.
Stage 4 — Viewpoint to Hamam Koyu (~2.3 km)
More exposed than Stage 2 — maquis scrub replaces forest for stretches, so the guide paces this section conservatively, especially once the sun is higher. Terrain undulates with a couple of short, rocky descents; the final approach drops down toward the bay.
Regroup Point 2
Just above the final descent to Hamam Koyu — the guide waits for the full group before leading the descent together, since the last stretch is the steepest of the day.
Stage 5 — Cleopatra’s Bath: Extended Break
Arrive at Hamam Koyu. This is the anchor of the day and the built-in “no one feels rushed” window.
Stage 6 — Prep for Return
Refill water, sunscreen, quick headcount and gear check led by the guide.
Stage 7 — Return: Hamam Koyu to Sarsala Bay (~4.3 km)
Same route in reverse. The guide budgets the most generous window of the day here — afternoon heat plus accumulated fatigue is when a mixed group slows down most, even though there’s no net climb. Same two regroup points apply in reverse order.
Stage 8 — Sarsala Bay: Cool Down
Back at the beach. A second swim here is a good pressure-release for tired legs before the drive out. Pack up, rehydrate.
Stage 9 — Departure
Load up for transfer out, allowing extra time for the switchback exit road.
