Day 1: Arrival — Dalaman Airport to Kaş
Your 11-day coastal adventure begins at Dalaman Airport (DLM), where a private air-conditioned vehicle collects you and drives approximately 175 kilometres east along the D400 coastal highway to Kaş — a journey of around 2 hours 15 minutes under normal conditions. The road passes through Fethiye, Kalkan, and the Patara coast, giving arriving hikers their first taste of the turquoise bays and pine-forested headlands that will define the days ahead.
Day 2: Kaş to Limanağzı — Üzüm İskelesi Bay · 14 km
Duration | 5–6 hrs | Distance | 14 km |
Difficulty | Moderate | Altitude | 0–350 m |
Season | April–June · September–November | Start | Kaş harbour |
Finish | Üzüm İskelesi | Accommodation | Handpicked pension, Üzüm İskelesi or Kaş |
Leaving Kaş on the eastern Lycian Way, this coastal stage follows waymarked paths above a succession of small turquoise bays before descending to the sheltered inlet of Limanağzı and continuing to the peaceful anchorage of Üzüm İskelesi. The route alternates between open macchia headlands with panoramic sea views and shaded valley sections beside seasonal streams. Scattered Lycian rock-cut tombs and ruins of ancient settlements punctuate the trail throughout.
Day 3: Üzüm İskelesi to Boğazcık to Sahil Kılınçlı — Transfer to Kaş · 10 km
Duration | 4–5 hrs | Distance | 10 km |
Difficulty | Moderate | Altitude | 0–320 m |
Season | April–June · September–November | Start | Üzüm İskelesi |
Finish | Sahil Kılınçlı (transfer to Kaş) | Accommodation | Handpicked hotel, Kaş |
A shorter stage threads through the hamlet of Boğazcık and along a remote stretch of coastline to the small coastal settlement of Sahil Kılınçlı, where a pre-arranged vehicle returns the group to Kaş for a second night. The section between Boğazcık and Kılınçlı follows one of the loneliest and most beautiful stretches of the entire eastern Lycian Way, with no roads, no development, and uninterrupted sea views over the Meis Channel toward the Greek archipelago.
Day 4: Sahil Kılınçlı to Üçağız (Kekova) via Aperlai & Apollonia Ruins · 16 km
Duration | 6–7 hrs | Distance | 16 km |
Difficulty | Moderate–Challenging | Altitude | 0–480 m |
Season | April–June · September–November | Start | Sahil Kılınçlı (short vehicle transfer from Kaş) |
Finish | Üçağız village | Accommodation | Handpicked pension, Üçağız |
The most archaeologically rich day of the entire itinerary follows the Lycian Way from Kılınçlı along the coast through the ancient city ruins of Aperlai — a Lycian maritime settlement whose walls and harbour structures extend into the sea — and continues past the hilltop site of Apollonia before descending to the peaceful fishing village of Üçağız on the Kekova lagoon. Three distinct ancient cities appear in a single day’s walking, making this one of the most culturally concentrated stages on any Mediterranean long-distance trail.
Day 5: Leisure Day at Üçağız — Kekova Boat Cruise & Kaleköy (Simena)
The Kekova lagoon area is one of the most layered and visually extraordinary destinations on the entire Turkish coast, and a full day here is not indulgent — it is necessary. The partially submerged city of Kekova (Dolichiste) stretches for several hundred metres along the north shore of Kekova Island, its staircases, doorways, and wall sections visible through the clear water from a boat. A UNESCO Tentative List site, the island itself is closed to landing, but the ruins are clearly visible from the water.
Day 6: Kapaklı to Andriake (Demre) — Visit Myra & St. Nicholas Church · 14 km
Duration | 5–6 hrs hiking + cultural visits | Distance | 14 km |
Difficulty | Moderate | Altitude | 0–360 m |
Season | April–June · September–November | Start | Kapaklı (short vehicle transfer from Üçağız) |
Finish | Andriake harbour, Demre | Accommodation | Handpicked pension / hotel, Karaöz |
A short vehicle transfer from Üçağız delivers the group to the Kapaklı trailhead for a coastal hike to the ancient harbour of Andriake — once the sea port of the great Lycian city of Myra. The hike follows the Lycian Way across macchia headlands above the Demre delta before descending to the harbour ruins, where a vehicle meets the group for afternoon visits to the rock-cut cliff tombs of Myra and the Church of St. Nicholas in Demre town — one of the most historically significant Christian monuments in the world.
Day 7: Beydağları National Park: Gelidonya Lighthouse to Adrasan · 15 km
Duration | 5–6 hrs | Distance | 15 km |
Difficulty | Moderate | Altitude | 0–450 m |
Season | April–June · September–November | Start | Beydağları National Park entrance (vehicle transfer from Karaöz) |
Finish | Adrasan Bay | Accommodation | Handpicked boutique hotel, Adrasan |
A short vehicle transfer from Karaöz repositions the group at the Beydağları Olympos Coastal National Park boundary, from where the Lycian Way is followed to Cape Gelidonya — the southernmost point of the tour — and its Ottoman-era lighthouse before continuing northeast along the headland to the wide, car-limited bay of Adrasan. Cape Gelidonya was the site of a Bronze Age shipwreck (c.1200 BC) now housed in the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, making it one of the most historically resonant capes on the Mediterranean coast.
Day 8: Adrasan to Olympos and Çıralı · 11 km
Duration | 4–5 hrs | Distance | 11 km |
Difficulty | Easy–Moderate | Altitude | 0–340 m |
Season | April–June · September–November | Start | Adrasan |
Finish | Çıralı | Accommodation | Handpicked eco-hotel / pension, Çıralı |
A gentler day traverses the pine-forested headland between Adrasan and Çıralı, descending through the riverside ruins of ancient Olympos — one of the most romantically overgrown archaeological sites in Turkey — before emerging on the long, pebbly beach at Çıralı. The ruins of Olympos are partially buried by river alluvium and engulfed by wild figs, oleander, and plane trees, making them unlike any other ancient site on the route. Çıralı itself is a car-limited, environmentally protected village with one of the finest beaches on the Turkish Riviera.
Day 9: Leisure Day at Çıralı — Olympos Ruins, Beach & Natural Wonders
A full rest day at Çıralı is one of the most restorative experiences of the tour. The village has no through traffic, no large-scale tourism, and no noise beyond the sea, the cicadas, and the occasional call to prayer from the small mosque. The Chimaera (Yanartaş) — a field of natural methane vents on the mountainside above Çıralı — is the morning priority for those who did not visit on the evening of Day 8. The flames have burned continuously for at least 2,500 years and were used as a navigation aid by ancient mariners; they inspired the fire-breathing Chimaera of Greek mythology and are referenced by Homer in the Iliad.
Day 10: Çıralı National Park — Chimaera to Uludere — Transfer to Antalya · 12 km
Duration | 4–5 hrs hiking + transfer | Distance | 12 km |
Difficulty | Moderate | Altitude | 0–600 m |
Season | April–June · September–November | Start | Çıralı National Park entrance (Chimaera path) |
Finish | Uludere (transfer point to Antalya) | Accommodation | Handpicked hotel, Antalya (Old Town / Kaleiçi) |
The final hiking day of the itinerary begins with a climb through the Beydağları national park forest above Çıralı, passing the Chimaera vent field, and continues northeast on the Lycian Way to the mountain village of Uludere, where a pre-arranged vehicle meets the group for the transfer to Antalya. The stage combines the last of the Lycian Way’s pine-forested mountain terrain with the satisfaction of completing a coast-to-city traverse, arriving in Antalya’s historic Kaleiçi district by early evening.
Day 11: Departure — Antalya Airport or Return to Dalaman
A final morning in Antalya before transfer to the airport. Kaleiçi deserves an unhurried breakfast walk: the Roman harbour retaining walls, Hadrian’s Gate (erected for the Emperor Hadrian’s visit in 130 AD), and the double-naved Yivli Minaret are all within ten minutes of each other and are best appreciated in the early morning before the day-tour coaches arrive. The Antalya Archaeological Museum — one of the finest in Turkey, housing the finds from Perge, Aspendos, and the surrounding Lycian sites — is worth visiting if your flight permits a longer morning.
