The Lycian Way or “Likya Yolu” in Turkish. 

Lycian Way is a 509-km/300-mile walk along the Mediterranean  coast of Turkey from Fethiye to Antalya. It is a combination of several ancient routes of the Lycian people and is marked by GR (Grande Randonnee) in red and white  stripes.

This walking holiday along the spectacular Lycian Peninsula, offers that rare opportunity to hike through a timeless region whilst enjoying the very best trails on the Lycian Way.  Here you’ll be immersed in an area brimming with ancient Lycian ruins, fragrant pine forest, sleepy hamlets and excellent local cuisine.

The Lycian Way follows an historic trade route, along coastal paths between Fethiye and Antalya, although it does head inland from time to time, passing through some of the best archaeological sites in the region as well as some traditional mountain villages and farming communities.

The Lycian Way is one of the world’s great long-distance hiking trails, is an incredible experience – there is something for everyone. One day you are high up in the mountains and the next on one of the top beaches in the world, with the ruins of a magnificent ancient city as a backdrop. And most of the Lycian Way can be done without camping gear if you choose — and if you are camping, you’ll be pleased to discover that you can camp just about anywhere!

You can do the Lycian Way any time of year. However,Trekking is best in spring or autumn – February-May or September-November.  July and Augost in Lycia is too hot for long walks.
