Carian Trail – Way 8 Day Trekking – Akyaka to Bodrum Gokova Gulf

The Carian Trail is a 820-kilometer long trekking route that winds its way through the Aegean region of Turkey, taking in stunning coastlines, ancient ruins, and rugged landscapes. One of the most popular sections of the trail is the stretch from Akyaka to Bodrum, which covers approximately 130 kilometers and offers a range of experiences for hikers.

Day 1: Meeting And Transfer To Akyaka

TRANSFER DALAMAN TO AKYAKA

After your arrival at Dalaman Airport, you will be transferred to Akyaka . Short trip to explore the Akyaka, river boat cruise or sail cruise to Sedir island ( known as the Cleopatra island )

Day 2: Hiking : Akyaka To Turnali

Hiking from Akyaka to Turnali 15 km’s.

we will start walking directly from the hotel to the market place and merge onto a path heading into the pine forest. The pine-scented route goes through the forest, passing by some quaint hamlets. The day finishes in the small village of Turnali, Transfer to Çardak Beach for an overnight in a bungalow.

Day 3: Hiking : Turnali-Sarnic-Datcagiz

TURNALI – SARNIÇ – DATCAĞIZ 18 KM

The hike starts with a long climb up with rewarding views of the Gulf of Gokova and the Datça Peninsula. The trail passes through a mystical pine forest. At the top, you’ll find the fertile fields of Sarnıç Village. The route descends down to Datcagiz on an  old mule trail.  A short transfer takes us to the heavenly bay of Akbük.

Day 4: Hiking : Turkevleri-Bozalan

HIKE TURKEVLERI – BOZALAN 13 KM

After checking out of the hotel, a short transfer takes you to the start of the hike in Turkevleri. Winding up through low vegetation, the path takes us up to nice views of the Aegean. Continuing through the pine trees, you arrive at Bozalan Village. This village is famous for its carpets made with natural dyes. It is possible to see women weaving their local patterns, knot by knot. A short transfer takes us to Çökertme Village by the seaside.

Day 5: Hiking. : Bozalan-Cakilli Yali

HIKE BOZALAN – ÇAKILLIYALI 14 KM

The hike starts from Bozalan, passing over some old terraces and by houses. The old mule trail takes us to Gökbel village, which is also famous for its carpets. After having some tea in the village center, continue on the hike overlooking the sea. The hike will be completed as we walked into the accommodation by the seaside in Çakıllıyalı.

Day 6: Hiking : Cakilli Yali-Ciftlik

Hike CAKILLIYALI-ÇIFTLIK 18 KM

Starting our day directly from the guesthouse. This old trail had not been used for a long time until it became a part of the Carian Trail. The undulating route passes by many pristine beaches and coves. With maquis, pine trees, olive groves, and strawberry trees, the trail is quite diverse. The path takes us to the Byzantine settlement of Kisebükü and then to Çiftlik. A short transfer to your seaside hotel.

Day 7: Hiking  : Çiftlik-Bodrum

ÇIFTLIK – BODRUM 20 KM

Transfer back to Çiftlik. Today’s hike passes through some remote villages and hamlets. Running mostly through olive groves, the trail reveals the traditional lifestyle still present just a half hour from the modern town of Bodrum. Fantastic views of Bodrum Castle accompany you as you walk straight into your hotel in Bodrum.

Day 8: Onward Travel

complete the hiking the most beautiful section of the Carian Trail ( Way ), transfer to the airport regarding to your onward destination.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Travel:  Recommended arrival and departure airport is : DALAMAN (There are winter flights available via Istanbul). Alternatively Transfers ANTALYA airports is also available to a minimum extra cost. 

Extra Arrival and Departure Dates:

• Please plan to arrive one day before the trek begins and depart one day after the trek ends.

Luggage transfers & logistics : Luggage transfer on hiking (Walking) days is included and your baggages will transferred from departure point to the finish

Meal Arrangements:

• Breakfast and dinner will be provided at accommodations.
• Lunch will be picnic or takeaway food with fruits during the trekking days.

This itinerary is subject to change based on weather conditions and group preferences.

1 – Meeting points : DALAMAN Airport & FETHIYE Bus Station ( Alternatives : ANTALYA or IZMIR Airports )

2 – The itinerary is changeable and modifiable as per need and time frame of the party. Program may change according to weather and road conditions. Cost will be re-calculated  if the itinerary is changed or modified. Additional activities may be added as per party members request with appropriate additional cost. The cost may also be affected due to the requirement of number of guide and auxiliary guide.
